Zhoshi is the spring festival of the Kalash people of Chitral. It is held every year from May 13 to 16 and seeks blessings for the safety of the community's herds and crops. The celebration belongs to an agro-pastoral way of life in which seasons, livestock, farming and belief are closely connected.
Kalash festivals are not simply performances arranged for visitors. Music and dance can carry religious meaning, traditional meals are prepared, and sacrifices may be offered at community altars. A good guide helps guests understand when they are watching a public celebration and when a moment should remain private.
For travelers, Zhoshi offers a rare chance to see spring arrive through community memory rather than a sightseeing checklist. The experience becomes more meaningful when you know why people gather, why certain places are respected and why permission matters before a camera is raised.

Five things a Zhoshi trip can include none of them are guaranteed shows. Public timings, access and activities are confirmed locally and may change.

Continue with public festival events according to the local schedule. The day may include time in Bumburet or a planned visit toward Rumbur, but no valley or performance is guaranteed until the operations team confirms access.
Use the day for the final public Zhoshi program, a quieter Rumbur visit or a locally approved Birir extension. Families and photographers can choose a lighter schedule with fewer transfers and more time for guided observation.
